Abstract: | Maxillomandibular immobilization in pediatric mandible fractures is accomplished through a resorbable screw placed into the zygomatic body to which is attached a large, monofilament, circummandibular suture. Although the screw must be placed intraoperatively, this method of jaw immobilization is rapid, secure, does not damage the teeth, and can be removed in the office in the older child. |
