Abstract:In order to explore the role of Se in cancer metabolism, the distribution of 75-Se in mice inoculated Ehrlich ascites tumor (solid form) and treated with an anticarcinogenic dose of stable selenite was investigated. The results showed that the specific activity of each tissue in the groups treated with Se were lower than that without Se. Among all tissues the activity of kidney, liver and blood is comparatively higher and the kidney is the highest. In inoculated tumor but without Se group, the radioactivity of tumor is relatively higher but lower than the kidney, and the ratio of tumor/blood is 3.41. The homogenates of each solid tumor and liver of host -were separated into the nuclei, mitochondria, microsome and soluble subcellular partitions by ultracentrifugation. When the distribution of subcellular partitions were indicated as the percentage of specific activity, no significant differences were fourd between tumor and liver. But the comparism of radioactivity based on mg of tissue protein showed that each subcellular portion of tumor combined more 75-Se than the same portion of livers. Since many mechanisms of anticarcinogenic action are possible of Se, the further studies are in progress
