Abstract: | Consumption of foods that elicit a marked glyce-mic response have been proposed as risk factors for obesity and insulin resistance. A group of experts from around the world participated in a discussion of scientific issues about the role of diet in blood glucose response and related health outcomes. The goal was to determine how diet can best be used to prevent rather than to treat disease. This was an informed discussion rather than a formal, evidence-based review. To resolve debate on this topic, well-controlled research with healthy individuals is needed . |
