Abstract:Constipation refers to a condition of difficulty in defecation with discharge of dry and impacted stool. The patient may have no defecation for quite a few days. In view of the differences in its etiology and pathogenesis, constipation can be divided into four types: heat type,qi stagnation type,qi-blood deficiency type and cold type. Constipation is often seen in various acute and chronic diseases. Also, for the differentiation of syndromes and treatment, the simple habitual constipation may be referred to in this section.
