Abstract:
Objective To study the current situation of quality and body mass index of freshmen, and to explore the correlation between them. [WTHZ]Methods With the method of multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling, the Pittsburgh sleep quality index scale and self-compiled questionnaire were used to conduct a questionnaire survey among 12323 freshmen, and then the height and weight were measured. [WTHZ]Results The detection rates of underweight, normal weight, overweight and obesity were 21.75%, 65.70%, 9.15% and 3.42%, respectively. There were statistically significant differences in BMI score with respect to gender, family location, school type and nap habits. The average sleep time was (7.03±1.04) hours. The PSQI score ranged from 0 to 17 points, and the mean score was (5.31±2.63). The detection rate of sleep disorders was 18.32%. The differences in the detection rate of sleep disorders in different BMI groups were statistically significant. The detection rate of sleep disorders was the highest in the obesity group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that gender(OR=0.707, 95%CI:0.650-0.768), family location(OR=1.151, 95%CI:1.053-1.256), obesity(OR=1.458, 95%CI:1.187-1.790) and napping habit(OR=1.380, 95%CI:1.251-1.522) were the influencing factors of sleep disorders of freshmen (P<0.05). [WTHZ]Conclusion Sleep quality of college freshmen is closely related to obesity. A reasonable weight and good sleep habits can help to improve the quality of sleep.
Keywords:Sleep quality  BMI  Sleep disorders  Freshmen
