Abstract:Objective To compare the clinical efficacy of iRoot BP Plus and calcium hydroxide as pulp capping agent in young permanent anterior pulp resection.Methods From March 2018 to August 2020,60 young permanent teeth in Affiliated Hospital of Yan'an University who needed pulptomy due to caries source,mechanical or traumatic pulp exposure were randomly divided into two groups.The pulp capping agent was iRoot BP Plus for 30 patients in the experimental group.The pulp capping agent of 30 cases in control group was calcium hydroxide.The success rate of pulp preservation and the thickness of root canal wall before and after treatment were observed.Results In the experimental group,28 cases succeeded in pulp preservation and 2 cases failed,and the effective rate was 93.33% (28/30),which was significantly higher than that of 70.00 % (21/30) in the control group (P<0.05).Before operation,there was no significant difference in the thickness of root canal wall between the two groups (P>0.05).After operation,the thickness of root canal wall in the two groups was significantly higher than that before operation (P<0.05),and the thickness of root canal wall in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion The effect of iRoot BP Plus as pulp capping agent in the direct pulp capping of young permanent teeth is obviously better than that of calcium hydroxide.Pulp capping has a high success rate and can significantly increase the thickness of the root canal wall of the affected teeth,which is conducive to the continuous development of young permanent teeth.
