Clinical significance of BRAF V600E gene mutation in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma

Objective To investigate the relationship between BRAF V600E gene and lymph nodes and other clinicopathological features in thyroid micropapillary carcinoma (PTMC). Methods The mutations of BRAF V600E gene in PTMC patients undergoing surgical resection and central area and / or lymph node dissection were detected by fluorescent PCR method,and the relationship between BRAF V600E gene and PTMC lymph node metastasis was studied in depth. Results There were no significant differences in BRAF V600E mutations in patients' gender,age,and nodular goiter or Hashimoto's thyroiditis(P＞ 0.05).The BRAF V600E mutation rate was 100% in PTMC with lymph node metastasis,which was significantly higher than PTMC without lymph node metastasis (P＜0.05). Conclusion In PTMC,the mutation of BRAF V600E is closely related to lymph node metastasis.The detection of BRAF V600E mutation can guide the clinical choice of surgical Methods.
