| Abstract: | Aldehyde dehydrogenase-2 (ALDH2) is the key enzyme that oxidizes acetaldehyde in liver, which can convert acetaldehyde to acetic acid. ALDH2 plays an important detoxification role in the metabolism of alcohol. When the enzyme activity of ALDH2 is weaken by the polymorphism of ALDH2, it will lead to the accumulation of acetaldehyde in the body and increase the risk of cancer. A growing number of studies have shown that gene polymorphism of ALDH2 is closely related to the development and treatment of tumors. This article summarizes the gene polymorphisms of ALDH2 in the occurrence, development, and drug treatment of gastric cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer, and other cancers. |
