Abstract:Abstract: Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular protozoan parasite that causes toxoplasmosis, a zoonotic parasitic disease. Toxoplasma gondii infection is usually asymptomatic in immunocompetent individuals, but maycause diseases in immune- compromised patients, such as AIDS patients. Toxoplasma gondii produces different degrees of damage to the central nervous system, respiratory system, digestive system, endocrine system and cardiovascular system of patients. Research on Toxoplasma gondii infection so far has been focused on the seroepidemiological investigation, diagnosis methods, effect on organism, animal model construction, therapeutic drug screening and so on. This paper reviewed recent advances of research on toxoplasmosis of HIV/AIDS patients.
Keywords:Keywords: AIDS  Toxoplasma gondii infection  Progress
