Abstract: | Spontaneous haemopneumothorax is an infrequently reported entity. We report here on two patients with spontaneous haemopneumothorax complicated by massive haemorrhage. Sources of bleeding were caused by torn pleural adhesion and ruptured apical bullae. Inappropriate management can lead to an increase in mortality and morbidity. We emphasize the importance of close monitoring, early recognition, prompt resuscitation and thoracotomy because of the possible lethal implications. |
