Abstract: | The biological effect of bleomycin resembles that of X-ray irradiation indicating that the combination of bleomycin and radiotherapy may have a synergistic effect. In cyclic bleomycin treatment of a murine carcinoma it was found that intermittent bleomycin treatment and radiotherapy results in a simple addition of the therapeutic effects of the two different treatments. Simultaneous treatment, however, results in a synergistic intensifying of the therapeutic effect. The toxicity of bleomycin was found to be unaltered by the regional application of X-ray irradiation. |
