Abstract:To evaluate mechanism and clinical significance of atrioventricular accessory pathway with intermittent retrograde conduction block, pathways of atrioventricular antegrade and ventrioatrial retrograde conduction were investigated by electrophysiologically examining patients with atrioventricular accessory pathway during treatment with radiofrequency current catheter ablation. Results showed that 7 out of 261 patients(2.7%)had retrograde(or bidirectional)conduction block in accessory pathways.Although it is an uncommon phenomenon that atrioventricular accessory pathways has intermittent retrograde conduction block, conduction block of accessory pathways would prevent radiofrequency current catheter ablation from being carried out due to difficulties in locating accessory pathways. Therefore, finding of intermittent retrograde conduction block in accessory pathways is of clinical significance.
Keywords:Preexcitation syndrome Accessory pathway Radiofrequency current catheter ablation Electrophysiological study
