摘 要: | The focal influx and accumulation of lipoprotein at arterial lesion--prone sites and the recruitment of blood monocytes to those sites are two early key events in atherogenesis. After entering thesubendothelial space of the arterial wall, monocytes undergo activation--differentiation to becomemacrophages which subsequently internallze oxidatively modified lipoproteins through scavenger receptors and become foam cells.
