Abstract:Objectives: To compare the anti-hepatoma in liver cancer of artesunate API(Active pharmaceutical ingredient) with artesunate nano-liposomes.Methods: HepG2 cells were treated with artesunate API and artesunate nano-liposomes.Cell proliferation inhibition was measured by methylthiazolyl tetrazolium(MTT) assay.The morphological changes of apoptosis were observed by Hoechst 33258 staining.And RT-PCR was used to detect the mRNA expressions of the apoptosis-related factor of caspase-3.Results: The results indicated that artesunate API and artesunate nano-liposomes could inhibit the proliferation of HepG2 cells in a dose and time dependent manner.The mRNA expressions of caspase-3 were up-regulated,and the artesunate nano-liposomes group was higher than the artesunate API group.Conclusions: Artesunate nano-liposomes can inhibit the proliferation and induce apoptosis of human hepatoma cells of HepG2,and it shows much stronger anti-cancer effect than that of artesunate API.
