Abstract:
The problem of classifying squirrel monkey vocalizations has not yet been solved satisfactorily. To this end a system has been designed in which telemetrically-transmitted vocalization signals are automatically recognized by computer. The hardware and software basis for an on-line recognition using zero-crossing analysis has now been developed. Thus, it is now possible to begin computer-controlled experiments with the aim of classifying squirrel monkey vocalizations according to their communicative meaning.
