Abstract:Cancer cachexia is a progressive wasting syndrome characterised by loss of both adipose tissue and lean body mass. It is a complex metabolic process common in patients with cancer and responsible for death. Consideration of this syndrome is important because of its prevalence and its significant effect on morbidity, mortality and nutritional and psychological status.
