Research progress on the technical standard for sanitary requirements for disinfection management of dental unit waterlines in medical institutions in the United States

A dental unit is composed of a supply system of water, power and gas and various oral diagnosis and treatment instruments. The unit can provide necessary cooling and flushing water during the process of diagnosis and treatment, and it is a necessary basic device for oral diagnosis and treatment. The contamination control of dental unit waterlines receives more and more attention from the domestic and foreign scholars. The effective disinfection management is critical to the implementation of prevention of nosocomial cross infection during therapy. This article systematically introduces and summarizes the research progress on the technical standard for sanitary requirements for disinfection management of dental unit waterlines in medical institutions in the United States, and provides references regarding solution methods of related problems, research approaches and disinfection management for domestic medical professionals and manufacturers of dental unit waterlines.
