EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON CYTOTOXIC EFFECTSOF HYPERBARIC OXYGEN AND PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY ON MOUSE TRANSPLANTED TUMOR

An experimental study on the cytotoxic effectsof hyperbaric oxygen combined with photodynamictherapy (fBO-PDT) on mouse transplanted tumorsS180 and Ca759 was carried out using a self-dcsigneddevice of laser irradiation in hyperbaric oxygenchamber. The results re-vealed that HBO combinedwith PDT had a stronger tumor-cytotoxic effect thanPDT alone (p<0.01). This study provided evidencefor the theory that singlet-state oxygen plays animportant role in PDT, and clarified the mechanismthat mitochondria is initially implicated in thedamage.
