Abstract: | Plasma from units of human blood collected in CPDA-1 preservative were compared with human serum in cultures of Plasmodium falciparum. No significant differences in parasite growth and multiplication were seen between cultures containing serum or plasma. The wider availability of plasma makes it an attractive alternative to serum, especially in large scale cultures. |
