Abstract: | Acute phase proteins were measured in six patients before livertransplantation and for 72 h after orthotopic liver transplantation. The ability of the donor liver to mount an acute phase responsewas demonstrated, although the response was less than that seenin other groups of patients in whom this has been studied. Becauseof the reduced response to stress, the value of these measurementsas indicators of liver function in this group of patients islimited. *Present addresses: Intensive Care Unit, University Hospitalof South Manchester, Withington, Manchester M20 8LR.Department of Biochemistry, Salisbury General Infirmary, SalisburySP2 8BJ |
