| Abstract: | Dogs that achieved long-term survival (15 to 36 months) following insertion of a silicone tracheal prosthesis exhibited tracheal wall and ring formation around the loosened prosthesis. The new trachea was observed in 6 dogs and fulfilled all the criteria of an ideal tracheal substitute except inner epithelialization. |
