Retrospective study of different treatment methods on distal radius C3 fractures

Objective To explore the type C3 distal radius fractures effective treatment method.Methods Retrospectively analyzed,53 cases of type C3 distal radius fracture,treated respectively by closed reduction and external fixation and open reduction locking compression plate fixation,closed reduction and external fixation group had 34 cases,the open reduction and locking compression plate had 19 cases,and compared two treatment methods,excellent rate,according to reset standard functional criteria.Results Fifty-three patients were followed up for 19 to 36 months,with an average of 28 months.Wrist function was assessed by Gartland and werley of evaluation criteria,closed reduction and external fixation group's of excellent and good rate was 88.2%,open reduction and locking compression plate fixation group's good rate was 88.8%.Two groups,ulnar deviation and radial height difference had no statistically significence(P>0.05),the external fixator group's palm angle was less than locking compression plate group's,this difference between two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion There is no significant difference between open reduction and locking compression plate fixation with closed reduction and external fixator,External fixator has a place in the treatment of C3 fractures of the distal radius.
