Clinical analysis of the integrated traditional;Chinese and western medicine in treatment of erythrodermic psoriasis

Objective： To observe the clinical therapeutic efficacy of the integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine on erythrodermic psoriasis. Methods：The patients were randomly divided into two groups. Thirty-six patients in western medicine treatment group received oral Acitretin and intravenous Stronger Neo-Minophagen C （SNMC）. According to the overall analysis of symptoms and types classification, the 32 cases in the integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine group （TCM WM goup） were divided into two types： the patients of toxic heat type were given modified Qingying decoction （清营汤）, and the patients of Yin damage type （伤阴型） were given modified Yangxue Jiedu decoction（养血解毒汤）. Patients in both groups were also given Chinese medicine bath. The total effective rate, time of subsidence of symptoms, notable effective time, length of hospital stay, and side-effects were compared between the two groups after 4 weeks. Results：Compared with the west medicine treatment group, higher total effective rate was observed in TCM WM group （96.9% vs. 75.0%）, time for release of symptoms was shorter （9.4±2.7）days vs. （14.6±1.9） days], time to show notable effect （18. 5±3.2）days vs. （24.3±3.0）days] and length of hospital stay （28. 3±3. 8） days vs. （39. 1±4.5）days] were shorter, and side-effects were milder （all P〈0. 05）. Conclusions：Integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine therapy shows earlier therapeutic effect, higher clinical efficacy and mild side-effect in the treatment of erythrodermic psoriasis.
