Comparative Study of Mirtazapine and Maprotiline in the Treatmemt of Recurrent Depression.

Objective To evaluate the effiacy of Mirtazapine in the trentment of recurrent depression and influence on the quality of life.Methods A total of 60 patients with recurrent depression were randomly assigned to Mirtazapine group and Maprotiline group for six weeks treatment.HAMD,HAMA,TESS and GQOLI were used to assess the clinical efficacy,side effects and quality of life.Results At the end of 6 weeks,the efficiencies of both groups were equivalent（χ^2=0.10,P〈0.05）.The scores of HAMD and HAMA were reducad more in Mirtazapine group than in Maprotilin group（t=2.43,P〈0.05）.The adverse reactions of Mirtazapine were lower and 1ighter than those of Maprotiline.There were signiflcant differences between the two groups in following aspects：physical function,mental health,social function and general quality（P〈0.05 or P〈0.01）.Conclusion Mirtaznpine is a safe and ettective antidepressent drug,and it can significantly improve the quality of life in the treatment of recurrent depression.
