| Abstract: | 50 patients have been followed up after lateral internal sphincterotomy for chronic anal fissure. The results are excellent. This operation has some advantages over against the posterior sphincterotomy or the sphincter stretching and should replace these latter procedures in the treatment of chronic anal fissure. The lateral internal sphincterotomy may probably be applied for other benign anal lesions. |
