Abstract: | Assessing patients for health literacy levels can be an important tool in effective provider-patient communication and positive health care outcomes. A number of different assessment tools are available to health care providers and researchers. The Health Literacy Tool Shed is a convenient searchable database of validated health literacy instruments. Instruments can be searched by alphabetic title list, context, domain measured, and administration time, among others. Results include a description of the tool, references, and score validation criteria. Tools may be freely available online or may be requested from the creator of the evaluation instrument. |
