A case report and literature review of primary Sjogren's syndrome with unilateral pleural effusion as the initial manifestation

Sjogren's syndrome is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease which mainly involves exocrine glands.Sjogren's syndrome with unilateral pleural effusion as the initial manifestation and without typical manifestations such as dry mouth and dry eyes is extremely rare,which is easy to be misdiagnosed and mistreated.This paper mainly introduces a case of right pleural effusion with repeated attack for more than 1 year,which has been failed by anti-infection and anti-tuberculosis treatment successively,and finally it is clearly identified as a pleural effusion secondary to Sjogren's syndrome;to investigate the clinical characteristics and treatment measures of primary Sjogren's syndrome with unilateral pleural effusion as the initial manifestation,so as to improve the understanding of the majority of clinicians on Sjogren's syndrome with unilateral pleural effusion as the initial manifestation.
