Analysis of influencing factors of silicone oil filling in vitrectomy for proliferative diabetic retinopathy

Objective To explore the influencing factors of silicone oil filling in vitrectomy for proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR).Methods The clinical data of 125 patients(150 eyes)who underwent vitrectomy for PDR in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed.The patients were divided into silicone oil group[80 cases(98 eyes)]and non silicone oil group[45 cases(52 eyes)]by the filling medium.The curative effect of vitrectomy and the factors influencing silicone oil filling in PDR vitrectomy were analyzed.Results There were significant differences in proportion of age,diabetic retinopathy(DR)course,retinal hole,diabetic course,retinal neovascularization proliferative membrane,preoperative laser,diabetic nephropathy and hypertension between the two groups(P<0.05);there were no significant differences in proportion of gender,fasting blood glucose and active bleeding between the two groups(P>0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that DR course and retinal hole were independent risk factors for silicone oil filling,and age was independent protective factor for silicone oil filling(P<0.05).Conclusion Vitrectomy should be performed as early as possible in patients with long DR course or young patients.At the same time,retinal hole formation should be reduced during the operation,so as to reduce the silicone oil filling rate.
