Prof.Guo Weiqin' s experience in treating heart failure by invigorating qi,promoting blood circulation and disinhibiting water

Heart failure(Hereafter HF), which refers to the structural and/or functional abnormalities of the heart caused by ventricular filling or decreased ejection capacity of a clinical syndrome, falls into the categories of "heart water", "panting syndrome", "water swelling" and others in traditional Chinese medicine. Prof. Guo Weiqin holds that HF is caused by pathological products such as static blood, water rheum and turbid phlegm under the premise of deficiency of healthy qi. The pathogenesis of HF is the deficiency of qi and yang, and the redundance of blood stasis and water retention. Prof. Guo treats HF from the three aspects of qi, blood and water with the treatment principles of invigorating qi and warming yang, promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis, purging the lung to alleviate water retention. Prof. Guo intends to treat HF with Yiqi Xiefei Decoction, which has the effects of tonifying qi, promoting blood circulation and alleviating water retention. It is applied in the treatment of HF based on syndrome differentiation and subtraction, and good clinical effect has been achieved.
