Meta-analysis of Q-switched laser combined with intense pulsed light on the treatment of Melasma

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Q-switched laser combined with intense pulsed light(IPL)on the treatment of melasma by Meta-analysis.Methods Computer retrieval of Pubmed,CNKI,WanFang,VIP,Web of science,Elsevier science and Cochrane database.Randomized controlled trial(RCT)of Q-switched laser combined with IPL in the treatment of melasma was collected,the retrieval time was up to December 2019.Five researchers independently screened the literature and extracted the data.RevMan 5.3 was used to make a meta-analysis of the outcome indicators and test the publication bias.Results Seven RCTs were included in the our study,a total of 548 patients were enrolled.Meta-analysis shows that the total effective rates of Q-switched laser combined with IPL on the treatment of melasma is significantly higher than Q-switched laser(RR=1.25,95%CI1.10,1.41],Z=3.58,P=0.0003).There is no evidence-based conclusion on adverse reactions and recurrence rate because of the limitations of the data.Conclusions The result shows that Q-switched laser combined with IPL is an effective method on the treatment of melasma,no evidence shows that adverse reactions and recurrence rates are lower than those of Q-switched laser.
