Sequence analysis of adenovirus DNA I. Nucleotide sequence at the carboxy-terminal end of the gene for adenovirus type 2 hexon

The nucleotide sequence of a 210 base-pair long fragment of adenovirus type 2 DNA has been determined. The fragment, which is located between map positions 59.0 and 60.2, specifies the codons for 45 amino acids at the carboxy-terminal end of the adenovirus hexon polypeptide. The hexon gene is terminated by a single UAA stop codon which starts 136 nucleotides to the left of the cleavage site for endonuclease BamHI at position 59.0
