Efficacy of piracetam combined with donepezil hydrochloride in the treatment of patients with vascular cognitive impairment and its influence on MMSE score and activities of daily living

Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of piracetam combined with donepezil hydrochloride in the treatment of patients with vascular cognitive impairment(VCI).Methods A total of 114 patients with VCI admitted to Anyang People’s Hospital between March 2018 and February 2020 were included as the research subjects.According to the random number table method,the patients were divided into combined group and control group,with 57 cases in each group.Patients in control group were treated with piracetam alone,and patients in combined group were given piracetam combined with donepezil hydrochloride.The cognitive function,activities of daily living and levels of blood biochemical indicators(nitric oxide(NO),homocysteine(Hcy),endothelin(ET))were compared between the two groups.Results After 3 months of treatment,the MMSE score and NO level in combined group were significantly higher than those before treatment and those in control group during the same period(P<0.05).The ADL score and levels of Hcy and ET in combined group were significantly higher than those before treatment and those in control group during the same period(P<0.05).Conclusion Piracetam combined with donepezil hydrochloride can improve the the levels of blood Hcy,ET and NO,and relieve the brain injury.
