Abstract:Objective:To compare and evaluate the sealing property and bonding strength of iRoot BP Plus and MTA,the calcium silicate-based materials,for apical retrofilling.Methods:A total of 93 fresh extracted single teeth were randomly divided into three groups:group A(iRoot BP Plus group),group B(MTA group),and group C(GIC group).Each group underwent root canal preparation and vertical condensation technique after being coronally cutted.Ultrasonic reverse root canal instrument and apical retrofilling were performed after root apical resection with 3mm.The morphology of the adhesive interface between retrofilling materials and dentin was observed and compared with scanning electron microscope(SEM).The fracture patterns of each group were observed under stereo microscope.The microleakages of different retrofilling materials were analyzed by measuring the dye penetration depth combined with image software.Results:SEM results showed that,compared with MTA,the adhesive interface between iRoot BP Plus and dental tissue was relatively better.There was no significant difference of bonding strength between iRoot BP Plus and MTA,which were significantly higher than that of GIC group(P<0.05).In the GIC group,the proportion of internal adhesive fracture mode was the highest.The results of micro osmosis showed that there was no significant difference between the iRoot BP Plus and MTA groups,but it were significantly lower than GIC group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Both iRoot BP Plus and MTA have brilliant apical sealing property and adhesive strength as apical retrofilling materials,which are superior to GIC.
