| Abstract: | Statins, inhibitors of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase, are widely used in clinical practice for the treatment of hypercholesterolaemia. Recently, it has been reported that statins could suppress the inflammatory cytokines production (Th1 and Th17 cytokines), up-regulate T regulatory (Treg)cells and inhibit the maturation of dendritic cells (DC). The immune regulation and anti-inflammation effects of statins have been widely explored and applied in the neurological disorders such as stroke, Alzheimer's disease (AD) , multiple sclerosis (MS) and acute central nervous system injury. |
