Quantitative autoradiography of sodium-dependent [3H]D-aspartate binding sites in rat brain

Abstract:In vitro autoradiography was employed to localize and quantify Na-dependent [3H]d-aspartate binding sites in rat brain. LKB autoradiograms revealed a 15-fold variation in the concentration of [3H]d-aspartate binding sites among 40 brain regions. These results indicate that high-affinity uptakes sites for aspartic and/or glutamic acid are present ubiquitously, though not uniformlly, throughout the rat brain.
