| Abstract: | Rat acute pancreatitis was induced by the injection of dog bile into a closed duodenal loop. It was found that lung index and extravascular lung water were significantly increased 6 h after the induction of pancreatitis. Histological examination revealed pulmonary congestion, edema, and atelecta-sis. There was a strong correlation between pancreatic and pulmonary injury. Increased serum and lung lipid peroxide (LPO) was parallel to the degree of pancreatic and lung injury. The results indicate that increase in LPO may be a result of pancreatitis-induced lung injury. |
