Abstract: | Abstract. Hemoglobin G Chinese, obtained from Chinese subjects in Singapore, Honolulu, and Hong Kong, was shown by Swenson, Hill, Lehmann and Jim J. biol. Chem. 237 : 1517–1520 (1962)] to be an α-chain variant in which glutamine replaces the glutamyl group normally located at position α-30. The same variant has now been found in 7 unrelated Chinese subjects on Taiwan. From the present studies, the incidence of Hemoglobin G Chinese in Chinese subjects in Taiwan is estimated to be approximately 5/100,000. |
