Abstract: | Rabbits were experimentally infected with Scbistosoma japonicum to observe morphological alterations of the liver to the 60th week of infection in chronological sequence. In the present report, the developing process of liver cirrhosis due to Schistosoma japonicum was elucidated together with the repairing process occurring after its cirrhotic state. It is concluded that the experimental liver cirrhosis due to Schistosoma japonicum is repairable. Consequently, in the persistence and progress of a cirrhotic state in the liver, repeated infections appear to play an important role. |
