Abstract: | We compared the clinicopathological features and prognosis between 16 amelanotic acral melanomas versus 56 pigmented acral melanomas. Amelanotic acral melanomas showed a thicker Breslow thickness (all had a Breslow thickness > 1 mm), more frequent ulceration (15/16, 93.7%) and lower HMB-45 positive rate than pigmented acral melanomas. However, a significant difference in survival was not observed. |
