Ototoxicity of Gentamicim(GM) with Lower Blood Level

In this study, potential ototoxicity of GM below therapeutical level have explored in guina pig by BAEP, EcochG and pathological examination. The result suggests: 1. Ototoxicity of GM was also common even with subtherapeutical blood level without any significant symptom. The earliest abnor-molities in electroneurophysiological and pathological changes may be presented on the 5 - 7th day after GM used, persistent impairment of Cocholea would be occured and didn' t recover even 1 month after GM stopped if GM with subtherapeutical level was administrated over 3 weeks. 2. It still was controversy onthe ototoxicity to young subject. But on the basis of present study, considerable sensitivity to aminoglyco-side antibiotics as the ototoxicity was showed in baby guinea pigs. 3. Although BAEP ang EcochG were as the most sensitive test for hearing loss in clinic, it was showed by shis study that the pathological alteration of SEM would be occurded earlier than electronuro-physiological tests.
