Abstract:Objective To explore the effects of different intensities of aerobic exercise on cancer-related fatigue(CRF)and the function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal cortex(HPA)axis in patients undergoing chemotherapy after glioma surgery.Methods 76 patients with glioma who had gone through postoperative chemotherapy and CRF were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups,with 38 cases in each group.The patients in Group A was given aerobic exercise with 25%VO2max,and the patients in group B was given aerobic exercise with 50%VO2max.The patients in the 2 groups were treated for 8 weeks.The changes of HPA axis functionserum adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH)and cortisol(CORT)]and Piper fatigue scale scores before and after treatment were statistically analyzed in the 2 groups,and their clinical effects were compared.Results After 8 weeks'treatment,the serum ACTH of patients in the 2 groups were significantly lower than before,and the level of CORT was significantly were increased than before(P<0.05 or P<0.01),and the decrease or increase in group B was significantly better than that of group A(P<0.05);The Piper fatigue score of patients in the 2 groups was significantly lower than before(P<0.05 or P<0.01),and the reduction in group B was significantly better than that of group A(P<0.05);at the same time,the total clinical effective rate of patients in group B(94.74%)was higher than that of group A(78.95%)(χ2=4.040,P<0.05).Conclusion Aerobic exercise with 50%VO2max has significantly better effect on CRF and HPA axis in patients with postoperative chemotherapy for glioma than aerobic exercise with 25%VO2max.
