History and evolution of international bibliotherapy

Objective To provide the experiences and references for studies on bibliotherapy in our country by stratifying the history and evolution rules of international bibliotherapy. Methods The studies on international bibliotherapy were analyzed with citations and topic evolution as the starting points by plotting the multidimensional reference publication year spec-troscopy (RPYS), key words covering graph, and topic evolution graph by the RPYS i/o and SciMAT based on the Web of Science core set database. Results The studies on bibliotherapy experienced the basic exploration stage, preliminary practice stage, method and theory improvement stage, and stable development stage with a good development situation at present. The studies on bibliotherapy are closely related with those on many other subjects. Conclusion The studies on bibliotherapy are of good potential and prospect, to which researchers should pay their attention.
