Clinical Study on Different Doses of Astragalus and Cinnamon Twig Five Substances Decoction in Treating Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

Objective:To observe the clinical curative effect of different doses of Astragalus and Cinnamon Twig Five Substances Decoction on diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN).Methods:A total of 120 patients with DPN treated in our hospital from June 2016 to December 2019 were randomly divided into the control group,the low-dose group,the normal dose group and the high-dose group.The control group was treated with Mecobalamin Tablets,0.5 mg each time,three times a day.The normal dose group was treated with normal dose of Astragalus and Cinnamon Twig Five Substances Decoction.The high-dose group was given 1.5 times the normal dose of Astragalus and Cinnamon Twig Five Substances Decoction,and the low-dose group was given 0.5 times the normal dose of Astragalus and Cinnamon Twig Five Substances Decoction.One dose each day,decocted in water,taken twice.All the groups were treated for 12 weeks.The clinical efficacy,the changes of Toronto clinical scoring system(TCSS)score,glucose metabolism index,TCM syndrome scores,motor nerve conduction velocity(MNVC)and sensory nerve conduction velocity(SNVC)of nervus peroneus communis and median nerve before and after treatment in the above four groups were observed.Results:The levels of fasting blood glucose(FPG),2-hour postprandial blood glucose(2 hPG)and glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1 c)in the four groups were significantly lower than those before treatment,and all the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);Compared with the control group,FPG,2 hPG and HbA1 c in the high-dose group and the normal dose group were significantly lower than those in the control group,and all the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05),and there were no significant differences between the low-dose group and the control group(P>0.05).The scores of TCSS and TCM syndromes in the four groups after treatment were significantly lower than those before treatment,and all the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The scores of TCSS and TCM syndromes in the high-dose group and the normal dose group were significantly lower than those in the control group,and all the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05),and there were no significant differences between the low-dose group and the control group(P>0.05).After treatment,the MNVC and SNVC of nervus peroneus communis and median nerve in the four groups were significantly lower than those before treatment,and all the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The MNVC and SNVC of nervus peroneus communis and median nerve in the high-dose group and the normal dose group were significantly faster than those in the control group,and all the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05),and there were no significant differences between the low-dose group and the control group in the MNVC and SNVC of nervus peroneus communis and median nerve(P>0.05).The effective rate was 93.33%in the high-dose group and 90.00%in the normal dose group,which were significantly higher than 63.33%in the control group,and all the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The effective rate of the low-dose group was 66.67%(20/30),and there was no significant difference compared with the control group(P>0.05).Conclusion:Different doses of Astragalus and Cinnamon Twig Five Substances Decoction can improve symptoms,repair motor and sensory nerve functions in patients with DPN,and there is a dose correlation.
