Surgical treatment of the blood blister-like aneurysm of the carotid artery

Objective: To investigate the efficacy of endovascular treatment and craniotomy for intracranial aneurysms of internal carotid artery. Methods: The clinical data of 6 patients with ruptured vesicular aneurysms treated in our department from January 2018 to September 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Results: Among the 6 patients in this group, 5 had a good prognosis and 1 had moderate disability. No aneurysm recurrence or rebleeding was observed during the 6-24 months of postoperative follow-up. Conclusions: The mortality and disability rates of haematoid aneurysms are much higher than those of conventional intracranial aneurysms,but most patients can achieve a better prognosis if properly treated.
