Abstract:HIV can affect salivary gland tissue. Parotid swellings have been observed in a subset of patients who are HIV-positive; the swellings are the result of a condition that has been termed diffuse infiltrative CD8 lymphocytosis syndrome. Initially the glandular enlargement results from a massive CD8 cell lymphoproliferation, but with time lymphoepithelial cysts become manifest. Two case reports are presented to illustrate this progression of diffuse infiltrative CD8 lymphocytosis
