Abstract: | UTI is a common problem in the pediatric population with significant long-term morbidity. Fecal-urinary migration is the most common route of infection, and E. coli is the most common organism. Methods of urine collection and interpretation of urinalysis must be considered when guiding therapy, and treatment is age and severity specific. VUR is an extremely common finding in febrile urinary tract infections. The algorithm of treatment is evolving with the advent of highly successful, minimally invasive therapy. |
