Preliminary study on traditional Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation and standardization after total knee arthroplasty in elderly patients

Objective To observe the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation and standardization after total knee arthroplasty in elderly patients.Methods 80 elderly patients after total knee arthroplasty were analyzed and compared in terms of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation before and after surgery.Results Before surgery,the higher percentage was 41.25%for Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome and 18.75%for Qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome;after surgery,the higher percentage was 36.25%for Qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome and 18.75%for kidney deficiency and blood stasis syndrome.The difference in distribution of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation before and after surgery was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion After total knee arthroplasty in the elderly,there is higher percentage of Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome and Qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome before surgery,while a higher percentage of Qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome and kidney deficiency and blood stasis syndrome after surgery.It can be seen that for these patients,the early symptoms are mainly stasis and gradually evolve into deficiency and stasis.
