Efficacy of phacoemulsification on cataract with high myopia

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of phacoemulsification on cataract with high myopia.Methods A total of 80 patients(112 eyes)with cataract and high myopia were divided into the reference group and the experimental group according to the order of admission,with 40 cases(56 eyes)in each group.Patients in the reference group were treated with small incision cataract extraction,and patients in the experimental group were treated with phacoemulsification.The visual acuity,corneal astigmatism and complications of the two groups were compared before and 1 week,half a month,and 1 month after surgery.Results At 1 week,half a month,and 1 month after surgery,the visual acuity of the experimental group were(0.59±0.11),(0.78±0.18),(0.81±0.19),which were higher than(0.41±0.07),(0.58±0.09),(0.70±0.11)of the reference group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).At 1 week,half a month,and 1 month after surgery,the corneal astigmatism of the experimental group were(0.68±0.31),(0.64±0.16),(0.54±0.14)D,which were lower than(0.87±0.26),(0.74±0.23),(0.65±0.27)D of the reference group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The postoperative complication rates 7.50%(3/40)in the experimental group was lower than 27.50%(11/40)in the reference group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion In the treatment of cataract with high myopia,phacoemulsification can effectively improve the visual acuity,corneal astigmatism,reduce the postoperative complications,and is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
