CLINICAL APPLICATION OF BLOOD VESSEL TRANSPLANTATION IN BONE

Since 1978, the authors have utilized blood vessel implantation in the treatment of non-union in 14 fracture cases and 10 cases of bone avascular necrosis. All the non-union cases were united within 3 months after operation, and most of the cases of bone avascular necrosis were restored obviously.According to the literatures and the authors' experimental observations,new blo_ od vessels may develop from transferred vessels,the blood supply of affected bone was improved,and bone healing promoted.Transferring blood vessels in bone is indicated in the treatment of non- union with soft tissues in good condition,and bone avascular necrosis in complete construe, tion. The relatively larger branches of blood vessel adjacent to the affected bone are often chosen for transferring,especially more suitably for the vessel bundles.The operative attack is not serious, and no influence on blood supply of limbs.
