| Abstract: | Intraoperative rapid insulin assay has beensuccessfully used for a year in our hospital formonitoring completeness of insulinoma excisionduring operations on 5 patients* According toour experience, portal blood insulin levels fellsharply shortly after removal of insulinoma.Wicth rapid immunoreactive insulin assay9 thetime between sample taking and final readingwas about 45 minutes. As blood sugar monitoringis influenced by many factors and correct resultcan only be obtained in an average of 70 minutesor even longer after complete remoival of tumor,rapid immunoreactive insulin assay has evidentadvantages over blood sugar monitoring. |
